In out neck of the woods, and the autumn has been somewhat subdued. The weather been unseasonably mild, and instead of the glorious fanfare of autumn, with bright sharp days and cold nights, it’s been more a case that summer has faded with a whimper, and autumn has rolled out of bed still half asleep, and not really enthusiastic about going to work. There have been the occasional corners of colour, like these shrubs that appeared unexpectedly out of the mist, but even these were quite subtle. A few weeks ago I met some people foraging for autumn fayre ( http://365project.org/shepherdman/365/2014-11-02) who recalled that the last time that autumn that was so mild was in the Millennium year, when the autumn was followed by a dry, but cold, winter, with temperatures down to -15C (I know, positively balmy to some of you. Those on the far side of the Big Pond can do their own math to convert to F), but we did have a white Christmas, with snow lying for weeks. I can remember the snows, and I can remember the years, but I wouldn’t have a clue which snow occurred in which year.
Spring came late on this side of the pond cold and chilly, but fall started early with leaves turning in August and even yesterday as I took a ride I saw some wonderful pops of color even though most trees were bare. Sorry you haven't been able to enjoy the lovely autumnal colors as we have. But next year you may have the wonderful colors and we may have a dull fall. The weather is like that inconsistently consistent.
We on the West Coast of Canada are currently experiencing lows of -3C - and are feeling very hard done by. A long ways from the -30C I experienced in the Canadian prairies but it is all relative. It is cold here!
I really like the muted colours and foggy/blurry atmosphere of this shot. FAV
It looks like a lovely place for a walk. I grew up in Southern California, which would often have fog so heavy you couldn't see five feet in front of you. I loved walking in it! This reminds me of that time.
