at Old John in Bradgate Park, in Charnwood Forest, North Leicestershire. It was a beautifully sunny day yesterday at home so instead of walking the dogs locally I put a plan forward to @shepherdman which was to leave home before 4pm to get to Bradgate so that I could have a practise with my 120-400 mm lens by shooting stag with the sunset behind him. Well he agreed and off we went up to the north of the county. We got there, still in sunshine and climbed the hill up to Old John where it was bitterly cold and blowing a gale. My tripod was shaking all over the place. We saw a group of deer on the shady side of the hill so that wasn't going to be a goer. Rather than go looking for a stag as we were time limited with dusk coming rapidly, we decided to come down the hill where it was a teeny weeny bit warmer and watch the clouds and mist roll in. Not the sunset I had envisaged, but a delightful one no less.
Love the tones and layers. If you don't mind some constructive observation though. Your processing seems to have washed out the blacks of the foreground trees and there's an area of yellow tone to the left side that's a bit of a distraction to the eye.
What a truly gorgeous image! I can't imagine saying to Ken, "Let's go get some photos of a stag and sunset!" What a wonderful area you live in! Thank you for the follow! I love your photos and should have signed on here long ago!
Such a beautiful image. I love the graduation in the hills and sky that give your image a subtle softness and depth. Supported by a great foreground that is almost a silhouette but still retains some detail in the stone wall. Sorry you never got your deer, but so pleased you shared this view.
Gorgeous, brave of you to be out in the cold like that and awesome view you shot here. Even though it wasn't what you had planned. That happens to me... a lot. Very pretty photo. Feels peaceful there.
Love this place.
