Been searching for the snowy owl this weekend, but sadly for me, she's been a bit scarce. :-(
I did, however, get treated to this sunset at Assateague when dh and I came to the conclusion that we weren't going to find her today, so all was not completely lost!
@jgpittenger Jane, I'm posting a link that has info on the Chincoteague ponies. It says there are about 70 ponies born in the spring, but you won't necessarily see them on any given day. They have a very large area that they roam and viewing opportunities arise when the ponies wander into the areas that are accessible to the public. If you spend time on the island, you will definitely see them, but not necessarily close up like you would at a ranch or something like that. The absolute best experience you can have is the pony round-up which will be the last week of July in 2017. THAT is an awesome experience! They're rounded up from the south end one evening straight to the corral, then the north end is rounded up and marched down the beach at sunrise a morning or two later. Then on Wednesday of that week, they swim across the water at low tide to the main island. It's an absolute breath-taking experience, and one I HIGHLY recommend! http://www.chincoteague.com/ponies.html
