garden visitors

This is the male woodpecker come to visit. I haven't seen him for a while it is the female that is in my other picture and it has been the female that has been visiting recently. The Goldfinches nearly always come in twos and sit one on either side of the feeder.
Yes my goldfinches always come in two's, no sign of a woodpecker yet for me but maybe this week where I will be staying in the New Forest. Nice colours in the photos.

I see you love birds too. we have a lot of feeders and feed the birds all winter through as well now. please tell me what is in the feeder the woodpecker is feeding from. we usually hang out some homemade suet.

@bruni Thank you for your lovely comments on my photos. Yes I do like to try and photograph the birds that visit my feeders. I also feed all year round. It is shelled peanuts the woodpecker is feeding on. I used to put suet out but it attracts jackdaws which are quite strong and can end up taking the whole feeders. Also none of the other birds come near when the jackdaws are about so I won't feed it now.

@shirleybankfarm Shirley, that is also our problem . we have the blackbirds and starlings here and they just about empty a feeder every day. my husband put some cones over the feeder to deter them from reaching the seeds. smart as they are (and I never knew they were acrobats) they found a way to get underneath the rim, hang there for a few second, take some seeds and fly off only to return.
