I had two squirrels running around the garden this morning. This one had an hazelnut from the feeder in it's mouth but was not going to let the other one steel it and ran about the garden with it in his mouth until finely the other squirrel gave up chasing it. It then sat on the back of a chair and I could hear it scrapping the shell with it's teeth to get into the nut.
@peterlgrave Thanks for lovely comment, They don't bother the fruit at all but I have some nut trees in my orchard and I have to be fast in getting them picked or there will be none left. :)
@lavenderhouse The red squirrels are actually and endangered species.
Around us is one of the few strongholds of them. Most of the UK only have grey squirrels now. The reason for this is the grey's are carriers of the pox viruses which does not effect them but kills the reds. If grey's are found in this area they are usually shot.
