Found these along a nature path. It resembles Bellwort but the leaves are very different. And so we knew that isn't what they are.Thanks to Hope @mzzhope I now know what they are.
@mzzhope - Thank you so much Hope for answering our question. I just looked up Trout Lily and I must have skipped over it because in the photo the petals are curled back. All the ones we saw looked like this one. Not sure if it's the time of day or stage of maturity that the petals curl back.
