Sorry about the odd or maybe insensitive title, but this is one of the mockingbirds that has been visiting our feeder. It was raining most of the day and we were enjoying watching some the birds' return on their migration back north. At some point I turned towards the window and saw what looked like large snowflakes going past the window and my wife asked, what is that? I walked over and looked on the ground and I saw a large amount of small feathers. Evidently a hawk swooped in and got one of the mockingbirds. This one looks like it was looking down at the feathers on the ground.
We just learned something about this mockingbird. Looks at its right leg. We realize that it is hurt or nonfunctional. My wife noticed that when it lands on the feeder it stands on its left leg and its right leg just hangs.
