What a huge surprise. My wife and I went for a walk at Buhl Farm Park since it was such a beautiful day. Around 7:30 I asked my wife if she would like to go to a restaurant for dinner? As we were walking back to our car we passed these bushes and the next thing I knew these two Whitetail fawns came out from under cover and approached us. I had my long lens on and the smaller one came so close to me I couldn't focus on it. My wife could have petted them but she was hesitant in case their mother was close by. We watched them walk around as I snapped lots of photos, but no signs of Mom. My wife walked over to tell the park ranger of our find. On Saturday there was a big event held at the park to honor veterans. We wonder if they got separated with all the people around. The ranger was going to call the Game Commission for them to come and take them to a place where they can be cared for. Hopefully their mother showed up before that happen. Neither were very steady on their legs so they must have been born either Friday or Saturday.
Oh my goodness what an experience! Absolutely fabulous shot of the little fawns - terrific lighting - so glad you were prepared when you ran into them! Fav

Thank you for your kind comments. I am going to call the park office tomorrow and see if I can find out what happened to them. They must have been very hungry because the smaller one, as it approached me, cried in a squeaky voice and for them to come that close to us. There are at least two organizations near by that take in injured and orphaned birds and animals who are trained to nurse them back to good health. I only wish we had a bottle of nutrients to have been able to feed them. I'll let you know what I learn.
