is in one acorn" ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
We went to Buhl Park for a picnic and I saw these acorns in the tree that was providing us with shade. Three young men were walking by as I was photographing the acorns and I could overhear them mocking me because they thought I was photographing leaves. This made me wonder, how often do we jump to conclusions about other people we see or even know based on a misconception? How many friendships have been ruined solely because a misconception?
I've been known to get some funny looks and comments whilst lying flat on the ground phtographing fallen autumn leaves... and you're spot on about the dangers and pitfalls of jumping to uninformed conclusions. Nicely done this and interesting that your NA Oak acorns are very different from our European kind.
@gardencat - While there has always been those types of people it seems that with the advent of social media, Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat etc. more people are becoming less tolerant.
How unfortunate that these young men lacked the insight and the ability to see and appreciate the simple and finer things in nature around them -- take no heed --it is their loss ! fav
I love the delicate veining of the leaves in the background, this is just lovely. My neighbors think I am daft because I am out everyday talking to the bees and taking their pictures. Your words are so true about misconceptions. My hope for those young men is that one day they will recognize the infinite beauty contained in a single acorn.
