This is a basket of flowers my daughter received for her 6th anniversary on 9/10. Her husband died 6/21. It goes without saying, yesterday was a very difficult day for her. While this is difficult for my daughter and my family as a whole, hopefully it can be a reminder to others that there are no promises that we will live for a certain length of time. We should enjoy life as much as we can in the time that we have! One other thing, never stop telling those that you love, that you love them. You never know when you will lose that opportunity!
Those anniversary dates are brutal after a loss of a loved one... no matter how much time passes... but the firsts are just the worst. A sweet bundle of cheerful is a nice distraction during such a difficult time.
@kandkids@ruthmouch - Thank you so much for your kind words and understanding! You are so right Karen. My wife just read a book written by a woman whose daughter was accidentally run over by her son as he backed out of their driveway. The woman said the first two years were the worse and while the pain diminishes beyond that it is always there. This is a trying time as a dad who used to kiss her boo boos and made them go away. But the pain from this will never completely cease.
Skip, some days are tougher than others, yes it is a reminder there are no promises.
Do hope you find the strength within you... for your family. Take care.
@monkeykid - Thank you Therese! They did brighten her home. She was doing better the next day. They were sent by her brother and sister-in-law.
@amrita21 - We know that there will be many things happen that will remind us of him that triggers tears. Since he was so much apart of our lives, it is amazing what those things are sometimes.
Dear Amrita, I am a weak vessel so I cannot find strength from within. My strength comes from Jesus Christ.
@danette - I think they did to some extent, but her emotions were bitter/sweet.
It's a beautiful photo, I hope these beautiful flowers brightened her home!

@lynnb Thank you Lynn for your sympathetic comments. We are certainly there for her through this.
