Water Fire - Torch Bearers by skipt07

Water Fire - Torch Bearers

This was the first part of lighting ceremony. A large number of volunteers, all wearing black, stood on a makeshift stage on the State Street bridge. Each volunteer held a torch and alternating faced in opposite directions. The fire was passed from torch bearer to torch bearer. From my vantage point I was unable to even estimate how many there were.
Oh this is cool, Skip. What was the occasion?

@amandal - It is called Water Fire Amanda! It was the first year that it was held in Sharon. I posted more information on yesterday's post.
@kwind - Thank you Kim! I imagine that it was pretty impressive! We were right at the railing on a bridge and people were standing behind us 4 or five deep so that restricted our view of them.

@lucypics - Thank you very much Lucy!

I thought it may have been a church thing. That would be cool, huh?!

@amandal - It would! Like a super duper candlelight service! :)

@amandal - I do too Amanda! We always end our candlelight service singing Silent Night.

Awesome shot, I'm particularly fascinated with the lighting - the glow from the torches on their faces brings me into the scene.

Turned out very well, considering the limited lighting. Must have been impressive.
