I tried my hand at stitching three shots together to make a panoramic capture of the crowd as they gathered for the fireworks show. A band played starting at 7:30 for a musical interlude from the shelter at the left of the picture. I think they may have played during the show, but I was so intent on gauging the shells as they rose to the sky I don't know for certain. This crowd is gathering for the annual fireworks display on the beautiful campus of Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA.
The Portland Symphony would play and have fire works and my mother and I attended several times. It was so much fun and we had a picnic too. This picture brings back those fun memories.
@joansmor - I am glad that my picture was a reminder of a joyful memory!
@paulam - They usually have a good crowd for a couple of reasons. One they have people go around with buckets asking for donations to cover the cost, but you aren't required to give. I thought that if everyone threw a buck in it certainly would help. Two; they always have the show on the 3rd so usually it is the only thing going on. Plus with the hill sloping down to the lake and behind me are building so you can hear the music pretty well.
@danette - It really is. It's a nice small college in a small college town!
