Our family has had a lot going on as of this date. Our oldest granddaughter, in photo, came for a visit with her boyfriend. For two reasons. One to celebrate her 24th birthday on the 23rd and to swing one more time on a rope swing attached to the tree behind her. When she was a little tike, I took her to the hardware store to buy some rope to make a swing. She picked a purple and white rope. I attached it to the largest branch on the tree and she swang and swang for hours. Her little hands built up callouses from swinging. The tree, a wild cherry tree, got some rot in it and the branch that held the rope swing broke off. I reattached the rope to another branch where it remained for many years. The tree got to the point where I was afraid a storm might hit and take the tree down which could possibly hit our house or a detached garage.
When she went to the tree to swing, her boyfriend knelt down held out a box with a ring in it and proposed to her. She said, "Yes!"
The tree was felled the day they left.
@kiwichick _ I had my camera with me to capture her last swing. We knew that they were getting serious, but my wife and I didn't know he was going to propose on this day. I had my 100 mm lens on the camera so I didn't have enough time to back up and get more of them in the photo.
