My husband is impossible to shop for so with our fifth wedding anniversary coming up tomorrow I decided to bake him something special. Unfortunately my nascent baking skills failed me when it came to making the cheesecake layer. This was supposed to be a wonderful banana cheesecake with white chocolate Toblerone that was to be sandwiched between two layers of banana cake. Instead I wound up with a pathetic pile of slop since the damn thing collapsed into a pancake-thin mess that wouldn't come out of the pan. It may taste good but it's useless as a cake layer. Happy anniversary? :(
I had to laugh a little, sorry! This is exactly how mine would have turned out, only part would be part and part would be undercooked. I'm not good at baking. Horrible, actually.
Haha! I had baked and cooked things looking worse than this. But nothing beats my mom's present to my dad - she was making a cake and it asked for a boiled metal jar of condensed milk. She forgot about it and it exploded. They needed to remodel the kitchen :D
@triciaanddazzle I have to laugh too, especially when I see this pathetic little picture. The sad part is, I thought I knew how to bake until this disaster.
@lacedxxoo I'll just tell him it's an abstract art cake. And then tell him to shut up about how it looks and eat the damn thing.
@naladka Oh my goodness! That story tops any baking disaster I could come up with. Unless that was all her sneaky plan to get a new kitchen. I know from having some condensed milk bubble over in the oven that it can make a real mess. I can't imagine having it all over the kitchen!
