Day 089, Year 4 - As The Mist Rolls In Over Snowdonia

Best viewed large, on black if you have time :)

Another shot taken very near to where I took yesterdays shot, near to where I was staying with my family in north Wales last week. I was very keen to just get details of the mountains with snow, or mist, and rocks as well as larger landscape images. The weather was terrible as I took this, it was sleeting and I was struggling to keep the front of the lens dry and my fingers were freezing after about 25 minutes of being out but it was worth it for the view.

It was a great day, which was based mainly around going down Europe's first 4-person zip wire at the ZipWorld caverns next to the lodge where were staying. My daughter Alexis even went down on her own...amazing given she's only 7...!

Yesterday's shot can be seen here:

3 good things:

1 - Going down the ZipWire with Alexis, my mum and my sisters
2 - Slow-brew coffee and cake at the local cafe
3 - Getting in the bath with Alexis that evening...the first time in ages
Wales is on my bucket list for travel and this shot certainly makes the trip even more appealing. Beautiful with great depth.

@nicolecampbell @ukandie1 @aprilstumpff @helenhall @pasttheirprime Thank you all...it was very cold but a great look up the hills!

@taffy You should it's so beautiful.
Also, it's very accessible. And there are some thing like 14 peaks and over 100 hills. And it's not far from northern cities such as Liverpool and Manchester, and you can get to London very easily in relative terms.
But getting up Snowdon and seeing the region itself is very much worth it. I am keen to go back given how close I am to it!

Where was your lodge, Steve? We intend to drive round Wales later in June and would like info as to good places! Near Betws -y-coed?

@maggiemae
Hiya...the lodge is in Blaenau Ffestiniog and on the site of the ZipWorld Caverns. It's 5 bedrooms, and has a good size kitchen, living room with a log fire place, a shower, toilet, and an en-suite bath and shower room with loo attached to one of the bedrooms as well. And it's 10-15 minutes drive to Betws-y-Coed and about 25 to the car park of Snowdon.
