A popular myth is that Benjamin Franklin favored the turkey over the bald eagle to represent the United States. Not quite the truth, what is true is the ol' Ben did not hold the eagle in high regard because he felt the bird was an unhonorable scavenger, arguing that the turkey was a more honorable member of the bird population. HIstory lesson complete. I was intrigued by the look this guy was giving me.
You ask me (which you haven't), he looks a little ticked. Maybe his ancestors have passed down their desire to beak that Ben Franklin for his "nay" vote a couple of centuries ago. Great eagle photograph tho. (Crimini, those eyes are piercing.)
Fantastic capture of this magnificent bird, you must have been to close invading his personal space to get that wonderful expression, soar like a Turkey does not sound right for such a proud nation, has to be a Fav Ron its so well done;)
@lyndemc Thanks Denise. Hard to tell his angry look vs. his happy look. I guess they're just stuck with that expression. Sort of the anti-dolphin. I like the angry about Ben Franklin angle, though. Wonder if the founding fathers ever considered a dolphin to represent the nation?
Well, I have to say first that this is an awesome photo...I'd love to hang it on a wall...it's just such a great "eagle expression"... Where did you find him? Your fan's comments and your snappy repartee always have me laughing... (I''m glad you've been about as absent as I've been so I didn't have to miss anything!)
