My home seems to have become a sanctuary for expectant birds. After seeing the hummingbirds hatch, grow, and take flight it now seems the doves are embarking on a little family mission. These two, however, seem to be a couple of real klutzes. The male, whom I've dubbed Ricky, works diligently bringing sticks and twigs up the the female, Lucy, who promptly tries to arrange them is a completely disorderly fashion. Eventually she makes an unnecessary adjustment, causing the entire construction project to tumble back down the the ground. Ricky often jumps on top of her head, as he's doing here in trying to get a twig to what he seems to think as a proper location. It's actually quite comical to watch, but I worry that there's going to be some eggs present, but no nest in which to deposit said eggs.
Your description is so funny! Klutzy doves, huh!!? Surely do hope they get their act together before they are expectant parents. "Newlyweds", maybe, and first time nest makers???? lol.
Вы не видели как улетели колибри? Кажется,что горлицы плохие строители.Мне довелось в детстве выкармливать птенцов горлиц..Похоже гнездо было так же построено,как ваши Рикки и Люси строят.
Oh that's too funny! I thought he was standing on her head but thought maybe it was just an illusion. I think they should be called Ralph and Alice Kramden.
Oddly enough, @terryliv, I made an attempt to restart the nest for them using the fallen twigs, but they didn't seem to care for that much. They abandoned that portion of the eaves and moved one section down where they pretty much repeated the same nonproductive routine, and all of the twigs lay on the ground for days. And the pair disappeared for about a week....until today, when I noted that they had returned and were making the attempt again, and it looks to be somewhat successful. Got to admire their determination. I'll post an update/photo soon.
Это счастливый конец для колибри, @simta. Только после того, как я опубликовал последние фото младенцев, они приняли их первый полет и стал новые жители нового мира. Счастливый конец!
