is it "oooooh"? or is it "ahhhhhh"? by summerfield

is it "oooooh"? or is it "ahhhhhh"?

or maybe 'yaiks!'

this is from ten days ago's trip around the huron lake. i was spying on a pair of swans who wouldn't cooperate and just had their heads under their wings. aiming my lens at another part of the river, i snapped this photo and what surprised me was i captured a falling leaf in mid-fall. well, it's too small to be seen so you need to peer a little closer, my friends. and then you can say, "ahhhhhh!"

thank you, ladies and gents. your views and comments are much appreciated by this sickly old woman. and then you say, "oooooh!" good night everyone.

PS: today i got paid for my two photos and a third photo was sold to another. a couple hundred short of the price of the new D3200 :-) but this would do. and i have partner to thank for finalizing the sale. he's a ruthless manager, partner. but i'm thinking of 'online shopping'.

PSS: today i was asked at the office to shoot (with my camera) a group of lawyers, the photo of which they will use for their fundraising for one of their friends who's got brain tumor. but darn, i forgot to ask if i can post it here. i know, i own the photo, but i still have to get permission from all six lawyers if i can post their faces online. this is where you now say oooooh!
Nice shot here and congrats on selling your photos.

@bkbinthecity - thank you, brian.

@karenann - thank you, KA. no, not getting paid yet. still practising. my friend at the office "volunteered" me to be the official photog for the office's "movember" fundraising. methinks i'm going to be busy for the next couple of months. hope to have the lawyers' group photo posted here in the next few days.

@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. no, i wasn't thinking of getting the D3200 but the other weekend when partner and i drove around, he told me, while i was changing lens for the nth time, that i should have two cameras so that i don't have to keep changing lenses. whereupon i looked at him with a wide grin like a cheshire cat's and i said "aww, how nice of you, honey. and sure, i can wait for Christmas!" and that's when he realized he walked right into an unseen trap. that's why he's working doubly hard (and that's only because he has nothing else better to do) to have some of the photos sold, that way, i can afford, sorry he said "we can afford" to get me a second camera. i don't know who between us is the sly one. but if i do get a new camera, i'd probably want the D3200 or i'd go for a canon.

@summerfield LOL- clever. i haven't even thought that far ahead yet. i am still working with one lens but so far, so good. love those micro filters, though, and the uv one. that one is so interesting when taking shots of water. the micro ones - i screwed them together and got some interesting results. put them on top of the uv one. i need to upload to flickr so i can put my photos someplace. have - i don't know, 100's of ones i would love to share someplace. not facebook, i know that.

@catsmeowb - i really lucked out with my nikon when i bought it. around here there's the 'price match' wars among retailers. the source (used to be circuit city) had an offer of the D3100 kit with two lenses but i went to black's whose sale price was $60 more for the same kit, but they threw in a UV filter, a large (and i mean large) professional camera bag (that is also utile but ugly) a mini-tripod, a 16GB class 10 SD card and 200 free prints plus an hour's lesson. so i thought my 8 months of researching which camera to buy paid off. but what i didn't pick up on was that the D3200 was coming shortly. i'd have waited otherwise. but i don't see myself getting a second camera, unless agent 007 here who has set a sales income of $2,000 until the year end (he's very ambitious, my big man, you know?) out of the photographs. the irony is i've started writing again and unless he drives me around to photograph, i haven't done a lot of shooting on my own. also aside from writing, i'm looking at a friend's draft novel just to get her ass going.

@catsmeowb - i'm glad you're using the filters. i have a new filter called ND (i think it's for neutral density) and i forgot that i had it on the lens two weekends ago when partner and i were driving around and noticed that the colours of everything were so vivid. i haven't taken if off since. partner was scolding me a few days ago because he was looking at a camera store's flyer and saw the ridiculous prices of all these filters. but i told him i buy at amazon online and the same things i've bought (even the same brands) cost just a fraction of the sale prices in the flyer. go figure.

you are always so busy - and congrats on your sales. i am thinking of starting to write on a blog instead of just in my notebook. one where i can post photos, too. any suggestions?

@catsmeowb - i have one on blogspot that i have been neglecting :-) http://amatterofdistinction.blogspot.ca/ that's about the only place i know. there are also other sites i'm sure but i just don't know what they're called. two 365ers i know are in there. i used to post a photo with my blog but somehow the last stories i didn't because by then i have another photo blog plus this 365. if you go to the link for my blog, on the lower right column you can check out Monica Manning and Sunday Best. Sunday best is a fellow 365er. theirs are laid out quite well because they're tech savvy. let me know when and where your blog ends up and i will follow.
