his name is archimedes, but normally i refer to him as ollie the owl. archimedes was assigned to educate arthur in the movie "the sword in the stone". i love archimedes; i thought he was a more interesting character than the flamboyant merlin.
when i was a little girl back in the old country, we had two books from where we learned to read. they contained fables, legends and fairy tales, all with moral lessons. our mother encouraged us to read early on and after we learned the alphabet we moved on to reading those two books. sadly, i forgot the titles of the books. even my brother who remembers everything could not remember the books' titles.
in any case, this owl is a pendant that the young lady in our mailroom (my model who plays 'sophie la rue' in some of my shots) gave me sometime ago. i get to wear this during the winter when i wear my black turtle neck. the parts move so that when i'm walking, you hear a very soft tintinnabulation. i added the smoke shot for a little drama.
Wowza .... how do you do that smoke?!! Beautiful color too and looks so classy against that black background. When I was a little tyke, I had one book ONLY. I read it from cover to cover ALL of the time until that book literally wore out. Grimms Fairy Tales was the title. It was full of short stories and thus began my love for literature ... and led me to become an English major. End of ramble. :) P.S. Your photo is VERY artistic, my friend.
@karenann - thank you, KA. maybe that was the name of the book. at five i would have read the books so many times already. if i see the stories in there, i'd know if that's the book.
now, the smoke. that's from the last photo session i did last month and i did an overlay in ribbet (a.k.a. picnik). i processed the smoke photo first to a colour almost identical to the owl's.
@slang - thank you, sean harry, make it a double thank you.
