i used an ordinary table lamp and the in-camera flash for this. you need to place something on the very spot where the water drops so you can get good focus. the camera has to be mounted on a tripod. and you must clean your sink, especially if you have to post it sooc, like this one. :-)
it looks like an eye, doesn't it?
so, how i should improve this? maybe a balloon, suspended higher, filled with water and made to drip on the sink. and perhaps get a nice background. the gold paper didn't really help. i'm stalking all those nice water crowns posted around here so i can study how to take a better shot before the end of the month. (what did i get myself into?)
@turning_40 - thank you, jannelle. i find it is easier to catch water crowns with my canon rather than the nikon. it is easier when you can synchronize the timing of the drop with the shutter speed. and of course, patience! you gotta have lots of it when you have to do this. i saw your water crown, it's very sharp and i like it.
@sarasdadandmom - yeah, next time, i should maybe try it with beer! :-) thank you, terry.
Wonderful clarity, lighting. Great shot. Before I read your comments, I swore it was staring at me.
You know what I'd like to see....a topographic view of the same crown. Sorta like I did last month: http://365project.org/losthorizon/365/2013-03-14
Took me forever to figure out how to pull it off, might give an extra challenge for ya. :)
@losthorizon - that won't happen this month! hahaha! i'll have to figure out how to not have the tap in view or how the camera won't get wet. yup, challenge enough for my aging back!
