since yesterday i've been seeing people everywhere wearing weird clothing. i thought it was 'time travel day' but i knew that happens in the spring. partner told me there's a convention [at the convention centre (where else would it be?) downtown] of cartoon and comics characters happening this weekend.
i was going to go to the waterfront to shoot the airshow but it was not possible to walk my normal pace because all these people were massively convened in the streets near and around the convention centre! needless to say, i got "stranded" in the throng and i ended up at the rogers centre where the toronto blue jays and the new york yankees were playing an afternoon game. and the crowd doubled as yankee fans usually come here when their team is in town.
i do not know who these characters are, although from looking at the boys' toy box, i can guess that the young man is dressed as a the iron man. the two lassies, who knows! but it's incredible that in this heat (29 celcius feeling like 37) so many of them were clad in heavy get ups and lotsa make up, lined up for hours to get tickets so they could get inside the convention centre.
and here i've been keeping my secret identity as wonder woman!
but i think that the real winner at this convention was the panhandler who had a cat donning a 'superman' suit. when i passed by later, i saw him emptying his bucket of spare change into a big bag already half-filled with spare change and five-dollar bills. way to go!
Very cool shot and pretty cool to see. I think the lady on the left might be Harley Quinn from Batman judging by her mallet but her costume isn't usually like that. I could be wrong, but I bet this was lots of fun to see!
Good for the panhandling guy.....sounds like he has an entrepreneurial spirit! This sounds very much like an event that takes place here in San Diego, and attracts exactly the same kind of crowd. It is called Comic Con, and people get their tickets months in advance and start preparing their costumes! Fun triptych... would love to see the guy with the cat!

Yes from left to right Harley Quinn, a wanna be Joker and Iron Man. I was hoping to attend yesterday but my granddaughter came for the day and she does not like superheros as I do. Instead we went shopping and I bought a rare Spider-man Hulk action figure and other toys. Yeah, I'm a collector from way back. Next year I'll be there for sure. Wonder Woman signing out. LOL
Sometimes it is really tempting to just sit somewhere and put out a hat. People would ask, "What's this for?" and I'd say, "It's for me because I'm so good at sitting here." So enough commentary! Bunch of characters you've captured here. I wouldn't know who they were either. But the ladies could double for Miley Cyrus.
