"it's snowing, it's blowing,
my lovelife is boring me to tears
after all these years."
"aherm! padraigh, i believe the line goes "it's raining, it's pouring.""
"yeah, but it's snowing outside so i gotta adapt to the situation."
"ah! makes sense. so, you like my snowflakes bokeh, eh?"
"well, it's not bad, unlike the last (cough!) few days. what the heck are you thinking anyway, doing bokeh? you suck, you know!"
"hey, you be nice to me or you don't get airtime until Christmas!"
"meh, you still suck!"
"pompous welsh actor!"

i have to prepare some of my photos to show to a shop that's looking to give breaks to "local artists and photographers". does anyone know how to do a portfolio? i'm planning to just bring my laptop and show them my work and bring a few printed copies.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
I would do a slide show that you could easily pause and explain. But a 'portfolio' might be more professional. One of our 365 ladies does a book every year and gets it printed and that looked fabulous! Whose the Wesh Actor? Anthony Hopkins was Welsh!
My it looks like a bokeh rainbow in the thumbnails! I know nothing about portfolios for photos. You might be able to google it. Seems like there's a tutorial on Youtube for everything too.
I've done portfolios a couple of ways. One is as @maggiemae suggests and have a slide show sort of presentation ready. I've also purchased a portfolio (big photo album for 8x10 or 11x14 shots) and taken that for ppl to flip through. I've also made a few photo books for myself and those have ended up being a handy way to show my work as well.
@salza - thank you, sally. much appreciated. i think i found a portfolio which i will be picking up at lunchtime. i also found a website where a photographer shared his experiences about putting together a portfolio and he has some good advice. luckily i have some prints i can show off, not the best but he says what you think is not the best might be the best for other eyes. so taking his advice to heart.
@voiceprintz - thanks so much for the suggestions, j. i'm picking up a small portfolio at lunch, with 25 slots, and i will have a few images printed, plus i will bring my laptop (fully charged, of course) to show them some more. i've grouped my show pieces into five categories for easy viewing. 3 or 4 photos for each category, not necessarily the same ones as in the presentation. i will be up all night putting it together.
thank you, guys and dolls, for your moral support and vote of confidence. it really means a lot to me. i guess 2,400 plus photos and a gazillion more in storage, i suppose it's time to seriously consider that portfolio. getting serious about understanding the processing bit should and must be definitely considered as well.
Pretty bokeh :). No clue about putting a portfolio together, but how cool that you're in a position where you need to do this! Let me know how it goes... And don't forget to invite me to the vernissage!
@northy - actually, i was going to tell you about it so you can put together yours, too. it's a small flower shop and they're revamping their store on the danforth. i don't even know if my shots would make it, not as artistic as yours and may not be good enough for a flower shop. but i need an outside person to tell me i suck at it.
I wish you all the best! :) I have a solo show opening next week. I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment! The back injury sustained on Thursday is definitely putting a crimp in my style - all puns intended. I have no doubt but what your work will be of interest to many. Take a deep breath and go for it! *fingers crossed* and keep us posted!
@voiceprintz - you have a solo show???? that's freaking awesome! i want to go see it! where is it? where is it? i'm excited for you (can you tell? :-)) thank you for the props, j. something's shaping up so hopefully it'll turn into something nice.
@bill_fe - yeah, i buried some seeds in the backyard and they grew overnight. tee-hee! i ordered a bokeh kit from the crazy website that kim told me about. it should come next week after our bokeh challenge. hahaha! thank you, my friend.
@summerfield@bill_fe It's local to me and the opening is this coming Friday but it hangs for a month. Forty landscapes in a show called "Coast to Coast." I posted the PR triptych I created but, as some pointed out, was cryptic about what it all meant.
I love this one! The blue tinted snowflake bokeh is perfect for Mr. Penguin!!! Well done.....Oh, and I meant to mention that my lensbaby (I think Composer Pro) came with a kit for shaped bokeh.....have not used it yet, or my lensbaby much for that matter....
