11th saturday of my 52 portraits of me. the challenge today is to imitate a classic portrait.
i was going to have a redux of rene magritte's son of man which i spoofed three years ago - see here. but most of my clothes are still in the trunk and haven't fully sorted out yet and i just brought my blazers to the cleaners so that was out of the question. i was going to do the "la giaconda" but i look stupid when i have to smile like that (especially when i'm hungry) so that's out, too! but i've been wanting to do mondigliani's "portrait of a polish woman" which i first saw a long time ago in a barbra streisand tv special, so i thought this is the one chance. the only problem is i don't have a long neck (i think i don't have a neck anymore) unlike most of mondigliani's subjects.
i'm thinking it might be a good project to emulate some classic portraits, perhaps for a week. or not!
