there's a girl in the fountain

i had a grand time people watching yesterday as i rested from walking the length of the niagara river. i sat on one of the benches and was watching this couple as they passed by me, the woman dressed to the hilt, pantyhose and high heels, complete with heavy make up and dragging a large sports bag which looked rather heavy as well as three large totes brimming with stuff, i suppose. the man carried a computer bag and a not-so-large tote. they passed the young girl cooling herself in the fountain. the woman said something and the girl said "bite me!"

well, it was a stifling 24 degrees but felt like 30 something degrees with only a slight breeze, so if you were in the shade you'd be alright, in the bright sunshine, not so. it was worse in toronto as the forecast in the morning before i left was 30 degrees.

a three-fer - for the street challenge, the six-word story challenge and for the weekly theme.

and over at five plus two, we are interpreting "a pile of things" in self-portraits. have a look see: https://365project.org/fiveplustwo/365/2018-07-04
Love, love, love your story, it's priceless. You can just see the rather hot and bothered pack-horse (mare?) having a go at the carefree girl cooling off in that very inviting fountain. There's always a party-pooper lurking somewhere close-by. BTW, what's fiveplustwo about, what five, what two?

@golftragic - it's a group of seven people doing self portraits based on a theme. one theme, seven interpretation. formerly five women and two men made up the seven but now we are four women and three men

@summerfield Thanks Vikki, I've been puzzled by that for years.

They make an interesting couple. Good on the girl for finding an innovative way to cool off.

A great story, the dolled up lady might have been a bit envious ;-)

Such a great story . People watching is a great sport.

She wasn’t peeing in the pool was she?! Why would anyone be bothered by that then? I agree with @ludwigsdiana It sounds as if the lady was jealous! And what is wrong with that man that he’s making her carry all that luggage?!

Once again I have been so caught up in the narrative that I forget to comment on the photo. This is a fabulous Street shot that definitely tells the story

Great candid. Your narrative brings the picture alive

amused as ever by your narrative and observation skills. We have that heat. It is approaching midnight and right now I would gladly discard my footwear and jump in the fountain. I am sure I could add to the peculiarity of your scene depicted so amusingly here.

A nice candid

that's a lot to carry in the heat . She looks pretty fit . I don't blame the girl in the fountain sometimes you just have to cool off.

Interesting what one can see if one sits still long enough. I'm afraid I'm not good at that.

Funny all the way around. Three random people that somehow make a cohesive shot. Great catch!!!
