There's an abundance of Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers around here this year. This male Hairy looks like he's barely holding on. He's bigger and has a slightly longer beak than his Downy cousins.
Catching a decent bird shot in a natural setting makes me want to get a real camera. Oh, oh! Many thanks for dropping by.
Your woodpecker photos always remind me I need to buy or make some suet cake to put in my empty suet feeder!! ;-)) This is such a cute photo and so detailed as usual. Are you having any calendars made with all these gorgeous bird shots?
He's gorgeous . . beautiful from head to toe! You're already rocking this camera, Anne. I can't imagine what you'd do with a dslr . . you're extremely talented as a photographer. :)
Shows him off beautifully. The texture of the tree has come out well too. Your camera is taking wow shots. Thank you for commenting on my photos, much appreciated.
Gorgeous capture! I asked for a bird feeder for Christmas and got one. I bought a suet feeder too, but my husband is not catching the hint to hang them, even though he did notice the bird seed on our front porch railing.
Anne, I'm pretty sure you have a "real" camera based on your photos like this one, but I completely understand the urge to upgrade. And I think you should, just because it will make you so happy. When my brother gave me his "old" camera when he upgraded to something unimaginatively better, it was a big turning point for me. But then the next thing you will want are cool lenses.
Gorgeous shot, Anne!!! I love these little guys! The Red-bellied woodpeckers have really scary claws! I saw my first Pileated Woodpecker today. I saw it from my kitchen window. I couldn't find it when I went outside, but now I know I have one. Maybe I'll get lucky' :0)
