Hailing Spring! by sunnygreenwood

Hailing Spring!

Here are the daffodil shoots that I first noticed popping out of the ground yesterday morning. Yay!!! We had a major rain and hail storm starting at supper time last night. The rain went on for hours and these little hail stones were still all over the ground this morning. This is another one of those pics that I'm including to mark a milestone, not to celebrate great photography! ;-)

Many thanks for dropping by.

ps, thanks to howard for the cool title ;-)
We hail too recently. Those are pretty good ice chunks. I surprised they hadn't melted too overnight. Nice capture.

Very pretty capture. So cool how you caught the hail, too. It's so warm here, some of our daffodils are already in bloom.

Love the daffodil shoots and hail stones in the same shot!

Just noticed ours too! Happened almost overnight! Yay!
March 16th, 2012
Great capture! It gives the feel of being cold and wet just to look at it.
March 16th, 2012
Cool at least you can see Spring on its way :)
March 16th, 2012
So happy to hear that spring is making its way to your corner of the world.

Well that is a awesome title for this photo! It's so fun to see a flower shot on your page again, Anne! I miss your flowers so much. Can't wait to see these bloom.

Lucky those huge hailstones didn't flatten the plants. Great title.
March 16th, 2012
Wow - your daffs are further along than mine are!
March 16th, 2012
That is some big hail! Hope the car and the roof made it through safely!
March 16th, 2012
Wow, that's a lot of hail!
March 17th, 2012
I love your photo! I really tells a story and in this case, it's one I want to see. I have no green shoots. I'm green with envy!
March 17th, 2012
love the bulbs shooting up amongst the hail
March 17th, 2012
Great title!! Cool juxtaposition of the icy hail and the bright spring green. Mine are blooming in the driveway where it is warmer, but just up about 6" in the back of the yard. Won't be long now!
March 17th, 2012
hope they stay around
March 17th, 2012
Yay! Spring is on the way.
March 17th, 2012
Wow! Beautiful
March 17th, 2012
I hope you were under cover when they hit. That would hurt
March 17th, 2012
Wow! If they were still around this morning, I wonder how big they were when they came down? Isn't it wonderful to see the daffodils!!! :0)
March 17th, 2012
goodness... but clearly you can't keep a good shoot down! :)
March 17th, 2012
What a lovely spring shot of new life pushing up through the earth!
March 17th, 2012
Wow, huge hail! Love to see Spring arriving across the globe!
March 17th, 2012
yay!!! your flowers will be back soon
March 17th, 2012
this is a lovely, lovely shot, anne. i've never seen hail stones bigger than a grain of sand. well, i had, but i was driving and had to find a cover right away and didn't appreciate the hails at the time. i saw daffodil shoots too at the neighbourhood park, but they look plain in pictures if they're not wet. might go back there this morning.

it must be cold there! your spring shoots appear to be in good shape, no damage from the storm. they will probably take off and grow great guns now since you got a good rain:)
March 17th, 2012
Great combination of spring and storm.
March 17th, 2012
Lovely to see signs of Spring! Though the hailstones look very big!
