Happy St Patty's Day! No green beer for us today --- our granddaughters are visiting. This pic was taken at the beaver dam the day before yesterday. This morning when we visited it, the water below the dam was a foot or more higher and ice chunks were flowing over the top. There's little chance of getting Kala to stand still long enough for a pic so you get the blur of her with the nice section of dam in the background.
@moirab thanks moira! It was actually quite warm, 15 C or so if I recall correctly. The snow is all but all gone on the fields, etc. The white you're seeing here is just some snowy ice on the marsh. Barry had his hood up out of habit, not because he was cold. Wiggly is a great word - fits her exactly! ;-)
Beautiful reflection, Anne. I recognize this place from your other photos of it. I've been trying to revisit places in different seasons too (inspired by you!) and I'm amazed at how different the photos turn out. Have fun with the granddaughters!
I'd love to step out of my house and make my way to a beaver dam. Not going to happen in Toronto! This warm weather is so crazy - not sure what nature is doing.
Kala's just too excited to be still. Wonderful capture! I love the hail video. I've never seen it hail that much! I couldn't get the sliding link to work.
@cmuir1963 no not at all. it's warm here, 24 C today, which is about 75 F. It take s while for the ice in marshy areas to melt so that's why you're seeing all the white. The day i took the pic above, it was about 60 F. which is probably what you'll get this week. Hope you enjoy your visit. Are you going to be in down town Ottawa? Will you have any spare time?
@sparkleplenty1 thanks joyce, just some snowy ice in the marsh here and the odd bit of snow in the shady woods. It was in the 60's the day I took that pic and in the 70's [24 C] today. Very warm for this time of year and we're loving every minute of it.
@sunnygreenwood - thanks! I'll be working 2 days in downtown Ottawa (Tuesday and Thursday) and 1 in Renfrew. Hope to have some time, but I never know for sure.
Funny position on your dog----she looks like a wild beast pacing /crouching. Probably was excited bt the water. :-) Really cool pic, I have never seen a giant beaver dam.
