Greater Spotted Woodpecker in the Woods

It's relatively easy to photograph a Woodpecker on a bird feeder but it's another story trying to photograph one in a more natural environment. I was lurking in the wooded part of the garden this morning when I spotted (ha ha sorry!!) this one. It didn't hang around for long.

It's a great shot - they can get quite grubby as the year goes on. We don't have them any more unfortunately
