Mrs Tiggywinkle by susiemc

Mrs Tiggywinkle

I met my friend June at the coffee shop this morning. She came in with this little hedgehog which she'd found on the way. She knows a bit about hedgehogs and she's taken this one home to feed and keep warm. She's quite small as you can see so she would struggle to stay alive now that the nights are so cold.

(She might actually be Mr Tiggywinkle, we didn't look too closely)

Neither of us has seen a hedgehog in these parts for years.
Such a sweet capture. Fav

Ooh , how lovely Sue --I remember as a teenager, finding a hedgehog one evening and taking it into the house and my dad although a great animal lover going mad at me for bringing all the fleas into the house ! There was a hedgehog in my garden a month or so ago I heard a commotion at 2am got up and out to the garden to find Alfie was throwing him around on the lawn . I went and rescued the hedgehog which didn't seem to be worse for wear and I put him in the garden which is out of bounds to Alfie They are so sweet and I couldn't bear him being harmed !

How sweet! Funnily enough though they're supposed to be down in numbers we've had more records around here than previous years. Lovely pic, Sue.

@thresheg @beryl @pamelaclarke @foxes37 Thank you for your lovely comments. It's interesting that Beryl's seen one recently and Pamela's heard of sightings. Lets hope their numbers are increasing.

Oh what a cute photo....... no hedgehog sightings here sadly, even though we've built up an old wood pile in a corner of the garden
