More Crocuses

The sun didn't shine for long enough today for the crocuses to open up fully. I took this shot yesterday at the same time as yesterdays picture.
They are so pretty. Wonder if they'd grown in our part of the world with the summer heat we have? Shade or sun? I'd like to try some.

@aglennc I'm not which bit of the States you live in Anita but these crocuses are one of the first things to appear in early spring (the first being the snowdrops). They seem to do well after a cold winter. They do need sun otherwise they don't open up but they don't like too much warmth in the sun. They spread by themselves and just appear in different parts of the lawn.

@susiemc We are in the San Diego area of southern California. My mother used to says the same thing about the crocuses in the spring. Our winters aren't cold, really...... very rarely gets down to several degrees above freezing. We do have lots of sun, year round. Do you grow them from starts or from seed? (I think Steve @sjc88 said he had met you? John and I are looking forward to seeing them in September when they are over here for their west coast of the US tour.)
