Heron Tower is a commercial skyscraper with a bar and restaurant at the top (40th floor). It is the tallest building in the financial district and the 3rd tallest in Greater London. To get to the top you go up a glass lift on the outside of the building!!!! (Not for the faint hearted)
That's my glass of wine in the foreground. See how little there is in the glass? Chris wouldn't tell me how much it cost but said it was the most expensive glass of wine I'd ever had. There's no viewing gallery at the top of this building so if you want to go to the top you have to go in the bar. It was worth every penny. The views on all sides were a-ma-zing!!! It was our last tall building, it was late in the afternoon, it had been a gloriously sunny day and by now the sun was quite low in the sky and it was beautiful. What a way to end the day. I don't care how much the wine cost.
Tomorrow I'll post a picture of part of the view.
That looks like it knocks spots off The Shard. I was disappointed in that view......this looks scary though! A glass lift would be a step, too far for me I think.
@happypat We decided not to include the Shard in our 'Tall Buildings' day because it's expensive and you have to book. I'm quite sure that the views couldn't possibly have been any better than at the top of the buildings we did choose. The one near St Pauls didn't cost anything, the Monument cost about £2 and Tower Bridge about £9 so all in all an inexpensive day. The lift was actually fine. Thanks for commenting Pat.
A wonderful portrait of Chris -- he looks very relaxed with his glass of refreshment !! Love all the glasses and the two working behind the bar . Sounds as you had a wonderful London break and thoroughly enjoyed yourselves
What a wonderful experience & Chris is so pleased he has taken you there. A wonderful shot with all the glasses etc....I must say I enjoy those glass lifts. Have enjoyed all of your holiday photos, 365 is a great project.
