This acer has a bit of a back story (for you Heather @ 365projectorgheatherb )
The grandfather of the current owner of Hergest Croft brought this back from the far east in a suitcase when it was a small sapling. It is still quite a small tree but all ginko sans on sale in this country can be traced back to this one. A local nursery was allowed to remove material from this tree for grafting so all trees bought now are grafts. Occasionally Hergest have some for sale. We bought one from there a few years ago and at the time they were very difficult to find. I did a bit of research before writing this and I see they are now available online from the RHS.
