An entry for this week's fiveplustwo-evolution theme.
In recent years I have become fascinated with the evolution of the film camera. So much so that I have started collecting old film cameras from wherever I can find them. Charity shops, ebay junk shops antique shops, auctions, vintage and retro shops.
Many of them are things of great beauty and examples of superb craftsmanship and engineering. They all work and I do use them.... even the 105 year old Kodak Box Brownie on the left.
I suspect that it will still be working in another hundred years time. However I suspect that my current Canon EOS DSLR probably won't make it into the next decade never mind the next century.
This is just a small selection of some of my favourites from a rapidly growing collection.
Hi, can I will my cameras to you? There's my father's Plaubel Makina, there are my Voigtländer Vito B, Honeywell Pentax, Rolleicord, Pentax ME, Pentax LX, Olympus XA . . .
What a great collection. I have a friend who has collected old cameras for years. He now has hundreds of them. Apparently he told his wife that his collection was going to be sold when he retired to supplement his pension. He is still collecting though and has been retired 10 years.
@onewing Kitty doesn't complain about my camera collection....... it's my guitar/bass/mandolin collection she worries about as they need a lot more storage space and cost considerably more to buy. :)
