Lots of influences went into this photo. My get pushed partner this week, Nicola (@nicolaeastwood), asked me to look at an everyday subject from an unusual angle. I also have seen some gorgeous landscapes, like Jan K's (@jankoos) Mt Ranier photos. And, if it hadn't been for Jim cooking our dinner which gave me a little time to do a fairly quick photowalk near the house, it would have been my only shot. This was taken in front of the College of Education building where there is a kind of 'zen' garden of grasses and other native plants. I took this crouched low to the ground so that the theater wing of our building (the brick angled one) and the administrative building (the tall eyesore looking one) served as an urban backdrop. As I looked at it again tonight, it seemed that the golden colors were like the wonderful field in Jan's shot, but instead of Mt. Ranier, we have brick and mortar. Nicole, I hope this fits as attempt 1 for an unusual angle on an everyday object.
Thank you all for your comments and fav's of my "Don't Make Me Leave!" sunset as it took it to PP! And thank you for your well wishes on my return to Chicago. A long, full day at work, with more yet to do tonight, so it feels very different. Soon, I know, this will feel 'normal' I'm guessing. Best wishes to all the educators on the site who are starting or have started school this week!
@jankoos -- thanks for the inspiration tonight on your Mt. Ranier photobombed photo! @nicolaeastwood -- I've got some other ideas -- it's a very good challenge to me for this week.
Love the light and the contrast between the angles of the building and soft organic nature of the grasses.Taffy...how do you get partnered fir a get pushed activity?Sounds challenging and fun.
@joluise Thanks Jo. Lisa @pflaume was the first person that pointed out to me that I tended to connect urban/nature -- I hadn't even realized I was doing it so regularly and now I think I look for those opportunities more consciously.

I've learned a ton from these and highly recommend it.
