Word for the day - sky, for "look up at the sky day" - but today's the sky was no where to be seen (see Junko's photo http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2014-04-13 for todays' sky). This is one of the survivors of the Great Chicago Fire in the 1800s, with the modern skyscrapers (Water Tower Place, the John Hancock, the Bloomingdale's building) in the background.
Really great 14mm shot! I love this type of cityscape, especially captured through the wide angle lens (while some people may complain about the distortion created this way...). You are so fortunate to have all this wonderful architecture and cityscapes to photograph...just as I am fortunate to have the little game park which I can visit on weekends...it all comes down to best using what we have!
Very nice, I remember seeing this building when we went to Chicago an few years back. It looks great a night if I remember right all lit up. Have you corrected the distortion because for 14mm I think it looks great.
Fabulous perspective. I agree with what Eric has to say @ericdibosco . I am envious at times of all the large buildings you have to photograph but I wouldn't exchange my mountains for them!
I love the placement of this lovely old building amidst the new ones. It leaves me wondering how different this area might look had the fire not happened...
@anazad511 Thanks Ana! I did use my 14-24mm lens, which has amazing optics. It's a hard lens to figure out but when it's 'right' it really does the trick. BTW, I used the bag you recommended tonight and thought it worked well. Thanks for the lead on it!

You bring Chicago to life in your photos, Taffy.
