@shepherdmanswife Chantal challenged me to post three landscapes as part of a landscape challenge this month. Here's #2, from my Death Valley course on landscapes. I had edited it once, but have learned a lot in the past 3 weeks and ended up re-doing it and being much happier with it. Edited completely in LR5.
Still swamped at work and this weekend...thanks for your patience!
@bella_ss Thanks Sheralee. Yes, the whole area was salt -- you could taste a broken piece and it was all salt. The patterns varied wherever we looked -- I liked this one because of the way it radiated from a circle, but there were many others that were visually amazing.
Thats what I like about this landscape challenge - as I've said before! You can take an old photo and apply a bit of your own experience! This is like a professional shot!
This is truly a special shot. What amazing detail on the foreground and the lighting throughout is fabulous. Love the way the sun is hitting those red rocks. Spectacular processing, Taffy.
I probably said it before on another of your photos, but your pictures make me want to see this for myself for the first time in the 40+ years we've loved on this coast! Ken's wanted to go there for ages, and I was never enthused, but I'm singing a different tune now! Your photos are amazingly beautiful!
This is such a lovely and fascinating place, Taffy, and I'm sure you are real proud of having done the entire editing ( which I think came out great) in LR. Regarding your composition, I wish there was a tiny bit more sky to strengthen the concept of vast space, and I do wish that you had you camera pointed a few degrees more to the left, to get the main foreground circle in a prime focal area and eliminate some of the bright mountain and sky in the back. The low perspective, though, really makes it a standout image!
Wow, what a scene and shot Taffy. Fav. So glad you are liking LR, I managed to corrupt all my catalogs today and spent an hour with Adobe unravelling my little 'user error'! PS is a pig to get your head around!!
Great edit....i'm wondering if Lightroom will give me more than Adobe CameraRaw and PS will...?
Really nice work.
