Through the Fisheye on our Return

Lovely overnight in the 'country' with daughter-in-law's parents. Fun 'arts night' in the community's 4th Friday event, hanging out at their cabin, morning walk around the pond in the snow, lunch in the town (Woodstock) on the plaza and in the restaurant where Groundhog Day was filmed. And to top it off, D loaned me his fish-eye that he no longer uses. GREAT fun on the train on the way home!
So, and F-word for February, just under the wire! And looking forward to more fun with the fisheye this week.
Awesome shot

Fantastic capture and very interesting train. I've never seen one like it. Glad you had such a great getaway.

Love the fish eye effect!

Very cool effect. Is this train really open to the lower level in the middle like this? I have never seen a train like it before.

@888rachel Thanks Rachel! The first floor is a regular aisle down the center and bench seats on both sides that sit 2 people. There are stairs on both sides to the upper level. On the left is single seating. then there's that place to put a bag or coat in the center (the wire thing you can see through) and the other side is just the single seating without the wire area for coats and bags. I hope that makes sense. It was an odd double decker as each side had it's own stairs and configuration.

I appreciate the explanation about this unique train's layout. Most interesting. The fisheye adds an additional element of unusual too. You're going to have fun with that lens!

@taffy Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation!

Such a fabulous industrial view

fun curves! you even got some of the odd tints

Very unique capture, with lots of fantastic lines and depth presented. Seems like it is a train car from the 70's or so?
March 1st, 2015
@mtnrunner Thanks! I'd guess that these are from the 80s but they could be older. I know there are ones that are more modern with electrical outlets, etc, but this line definitely didn't have those.

Oh, this is pretty cool! The fisheye lens works some good magic on the straight lines of the train. I really like the effect. Sounds like a fun weekend.. and some good upcoming fun with fisheyes in the future. :)

I'm in catch up mode so seeing your images in reverse order, I have enjoyed all your fisheye shots.
March 1st, 2015
WOW..what a cool pov and shot. Love being able to see the snow scene through the windows. The fish eye should be fun. Sounds like you are having a great time. Funny you mentioned Ground Hog Day...was just thinking of that movie. We discovered we have a ground hog in our back yard (must have come in while we were gone) We knew there was some kind of critter but didn't know for sure what it was until last night. Need to set a trap and "re locate him"

Definite fav for me Taffy. Amazing view seen through a fisheye lens. I couldn't work it out until I read your explanation, now it falls into place much better.

@loweygrace Thanks Lois -- I do love riding on trains and never was a commuter here. The Metra is such a good way to get around. More comfy than the El!
March 3rd, 2015
Very interesting!
March 3rd, 2015
Sounds like you had a grand time. What an odd layout for a rail car, fascinating. Nice use of the fisheye!
March 3rd, 2015
Cool shot, I don't think I have ever managed to be in a metra carriage with so few people (but that is probably because I am in the city when I get on).
March 3rd, 2015
Very cool with the fish eye
March 3rd, 2015
I love this shot, it's really unusual - like Rachel, I was struggling with understanding the interior of the train. Very interesting - I appreciated your explanation!
