Walking back from taking images of skyscrapers and other 'looking up' related photos (for the weekly theme), I noticed that the river walk extension to the bend in the Chicago River where it splits into river north and river south had been completed. I liked the light and reflection and as I picked my spot to photograph, this fellow obligingly walked into my frame. I liked the scene better with someone in it than empty (surprisingly, actually, and totally a result of learning from other's street photography on 365).

Thank you for your poignant comments on the tent dwellers posted yesterday. Today was even colder with strong winds. I couldn't stop wondering about their safety and whether they would move to a city run shelter.
What excellent lines and the gentleman just adds so much to it. It was 72 here today but your cold is headed this way. A fleeting day do spring weather.
The glow of the lighted railings leads the eyes back and forth through this image. The human factor added a very nice touch. Nice that there was only one guy and not a dozen.
Initially I thought this was the bridge from the art museum to Millennium park; what a marvelous structure this is! Absolutely, people in such a photo add to the scale and perspective, and this is a wonderful case in point! I'm impressed, too, that you went out walking on a day like this!
Well done for getting out there in the cold and wet!! This is a great image with wonderful light!! The man adds to the whole scene giving perspective and interest!! Fav!
The person does make the scene come alive rather than just an image of buildings. I guess it makes a story doesn't it? Sometimes I don't get when people say an image tells a story but I see one here.
@skstein Thanks Sandy! I wasn't brave at all. If you look at the top of the 'z' at street level, you'll notice there are a bunch of people walking. It was rush hour and this was the way from downtown offices to the commuter train station, so very safe and populated. Just no one would really want to be down by the river where it was icy and felt colder.
This is really fabulous - so much going for it - love the lighting and the composition - and you're so right about the lone figure - totally works beautifully. The details here are just amazing. Fav
Love all the lines and the shiny reflections, along with the obliging walker. Looks so cold and dystopian! I, too, was wondering about the tent people by the river. :(
wonderful hybrid of empty industrial/architected world with people in there doing their thing (('ve been watching "Human Planet" BBC shows which are premised on people living in unlivable habitats)
