This is really Vestrahorn mountain. The winds were so strong that day that the lava field dust was blowing directly in our faces and biting at any exposed skin. But we kept walking/climbing to get to the viewpoint and is was SO worth it!
Glad to have some photos in hand to post. I've narrowed down the problem with LR and mostly it's good news. I have all my photos - the 45000 (yes, ridiculous) missing photos reappear depending on which external drive from the past 4 years is plugged in. And I have all processing, I'm pretty sure. What seems to be missing are all my smart previews which allow me to see photos even if the drive is not attached. I can't create any for existing photos and can't find those that might exist. So some connection has been lost in the restoration or earlier. In the grand scheme of things, photo life could be a whole lot worse. Another day or two of trying to solve the problem and then I'll either celebrate success or give up and figure out a workaround that doesn't overwrite what I've restored. I do appreciate all your kind thoughts, suggestions, and expressions of concern.
How did it drop me as following you? Oh my, still having computer problems by the sound of it. This is so gorgeous, wonderful curvy leading line, good near, middle far layers and the mountains reaching to the clouds....ahhh
This is instantly arresting. Fabulous detail, and great sky. I'm so relieved that you have not lost any photos or processing. It must be a great relief.
What a stunningly beautiful sight that is! It's like nothing most of us have ever seen, I'm sure! Thank you for going to the pain and trouble to bring this back and share it with us! It's a magnificent sight!
Sorry to hear about your Lr woes!! So horrible to almost lose your work but glad its coming together little by little. I try to back up my photos and Lr cataloge to a seperate external drive often, no problems so far but I'm thinking about looking into it further. This is such an impressive photo! Love the way the mountain takes center stage!
This is really amazing. Sorry to hear about the computer problems but so glad you've managed to get some of it back together. I don't know what I'd do if I lost my pictures- they are such a part of me!
What a fabulous sky drawing you into those mountains, I really like this shot. Fav.
So glad your meltdown was mostly fixable!!
