New Born Snapper by taffy

New Born Snapper

Walking up the road very long, Par 5 seventh hole fairway, Vickey suddenly stopped in her tracks and swooped up this little creature. It was definitely newly hatched and it had to be on its search for its water-home. This is the most dangerous part of the new-born's journey, and this little one was unlikely to have made it. Vickey took it to the pond and slowly lowered it in -- and was gratified to see him start swimming strongly away. Loved its long tail!
Thanks for your kind comments on my recent sunset, and for putting my rock critters on TT this week.
For size, the turtle is on Vickey's glove, no bigger than the width of 2 fingers.
Cute little one!!

@edorreandresen Had to laugh! You're so right -- they are not critters I'd step in to help without all kinds of protective gear on!!

Well done to Vickey. A beautiful little guy just starting life. These last years turtles have started again to come back on our beaches to lay their eggs. The eggs are supervised against poachers or other intruders until they hatch and race to the sea.

Such a tiny snapper - so pleased you were able to save it. How large do they grow and do they actually snap?

Great shot! I'm happy to know there are other turtle angels in this world. I will stop to scoop them out of the road and take them to the other side.

Cute little snapper and very observant to have seen it.

All good here Taffy. Our daughter and family in London are doing it fairly tough though with all of the Covid restrictions etc but so far they are fine.

Snappers are not the fisherman's friend- but I'd be reluctant to let it get run over too! Glad you were literally able to give the little guy a hand!
