Junko and I are about 28% through the series of lessons we've started, to learn how to control our photoshop processing. We've been focusing on layers and filters most recently, along with just moving around through the program using various tools. Here's the 'before' and 'after' from today's work.

So far, I'd highly recommend it, and we're about 30% of the way through. He's focusing so far on what PS would consider 'basics' though to me, it's pretty advanced processing that he makes quite accessible.
It's a bit difficult to tell your results since the top photo was cropped a lot. But what strikes me the most is how the owl's eyes seem to pop out in the finished product.
