With Junko visiting me on the island, we planned our first night for Milky Way photography. Only, Jim and I had finished staining the deck minutes before Junko arrives, so we couldn't walk on it to get to the beach. Our neighbors a few doors down are gone for the season, so we drive there for beach access and learned that they have a MUCH better spot with those two rocks perfectly located under the Milky Way!

Absolutely amazing. I actually tried last night, but sure didn't get anything like that. Is this a single image or do you do multiple images and stack them. Anyway, incredible.
@rickster549 Thanks Rick! It's a single image. But I take several that are hit or miss until I get the composition I'm happy with. I know my camera settings now pretty well, so that part has gotten easier.
Makes me feel like getting on a plane and coming to your island! Never get to see stars, let alone this kind of display here. Too much light pollution from city and motorways. This is glorious. Instant fav
@theredcamera I live on Beaver Island in Lake Michigan for several months a year. It's definitely visible -- we're just above the 45th parallel. Thanks for your comment!
