I was able to see the 17 year event of cicadas emerge last week while at @jokota 's before we headed to Arizona and have learned it was the ideal time. We could see individual ones as they emerged from the exoskeleton, red eyes staring. In this one you can see the 'before' and the 'after.' I understand the noise is much louder and mostly there are piles of the creatures.
PS And yes, we have moved in and spent the last 10 days preparing, unpacking, and organizing. Not much photography recently...
Brilliant close up of one of those very noisy creatures, they can drive you mad some times, but when they are gone you somehow miss them! Good luck with the unpacking.
Interesting… God created so many things to ponder! But I hope the cicadas stay there. Last time they emerged here we were stuck indoors because it was ear piercing outside! Great photo!
Excellent before and after image. I've only seen this once and didn't hear them around here, so I guess they were in other parts of Pa than the Poconos. Glad to hear you're all settled in the new place.
