Well, not actually next to the whales exactly, but they are in the area pictured on the left. That was the new enclosure that the Shedd Aquarium built when they acquired the belugas. When you visit the whales, they are swimming in their pool next to the tall windows and you look beyond the whales to Lake Michigan. Beyond the aquarium is what is now called Streeterville -- an area of residential towers just east of the Loop (main business district). Sailboats and others are just starting to appear regularly on the weekends in the waters between museum campus and Streeterville. It was a beautiful day today!
Wow Taffy what a fabulous cityscape! Love your composition encompassing all these different elements, the water the tall buildings the amazing sky. A fav!
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine! I'd actually gone there to practice shooting animals in anticipation of my get pushed challenge for this coming week. But I had to delete any shot of something that moved -- only the architecture shots weren't blurry!
Yes!!! Another great one, can I say I like the dude in the red jacket? Just a little tweak to let me know this is real life, because these photos are so "picture perfect" You are making me want to travel to the city and take some photos!
Your City is really modern looking and so pretty with all that blue-ish glass. It reminds me of Seattle - but of course Seattle is smaller. :-)
Great info - I didn't know this about the aquarium!
@bardejov@cathieg Thank you both for your kind comments! @jankoos I agree -- I love Seattle because the water is everywhere, instead of just along one coastline. @archaeofrog I know what you mean...so close but so far from freedom. @pflaume@vankrey Thanks Lisa! And Michael, as always. Interesting how blue the city looks from certain angles and times of day -- I've noticed that in a few of my shots and it's always ones taken right around 5:00. Must be something in the way the light is hitting.
@breigh The whales are wonderful to see -- gentle and beautiful. Hopefully they'll live a long and happy life in protection. There has to be a benefit for them.

Thanks you for your lovely comments! Trudi -- I'm in Chicago.
