The close to a lovely Sunday on the island. Highlights (for my record -- no need to read):
1. Rain ended but very cloudy until early evening so it was a great excuse to ignore unplanted flowers for another day.
2. Entire island invited to retirement event at the Beaver Island Community School for superintendent/principal/teacher of 34 years, Kitty McNamara. Followed by hot dog lunch. Only a few "seasonal' folks there, but as liaison to the school for the Beaver Island Association, I was glad to go and enjoyed the ceremony.
3. Why did I really enjoy going? It meant I had the car for the afternoon and time to take photos of the harbor, meadow, and school.
4. Spent rest of afternoon hanging out with Nutmeg and viewing/commenting on photos.
5. Spent time on phone with close friend
6. Looked at/processed photos taken today and chose the one to submit for main album.
7. Jim and I cooked tasty dinner
8. Had a few cookies from pantry -- trying to make them last for the summer since we can't get them here (McVitties Dark Chocolate Digestive Biscuits -- discovered on trip to London several years ago, now available at World Market in U.S.).
8. Took sunset photos
9. Currently watching Chicago Blackhawks beat LA Kings (so far score is 4-1, thinking as I write this that I hope I haven't jinxed it as the game is not over, but it is in the 3rd period but there are 8 minutes left on the clock).
10. Reflecting that this might be what retirement feels like and I could get used to it!
11. Prepare sunset for posting.
It is absolutely beautiful. I yearn for this color. All I have in this side of the world are gray and gray. All right, we all have our turns. Love to know your story of the day.
Wow, this is stunning! I love the color of the sky. It sounds like you had a perfect day. (an aside: my eldest daughter is also rooting for the Blackhawks now that the Rangers are out of it, so she was thrilled with the results of the game.)
Taffy, I really am liking the colors and the positioning of the sunset in this photo! Very nicely done. The way you used the leaves to frame the sun was brilliant.
Thanks so much for viewing and commenting! It was such an amazing color!
Thanks so much for your kind comments on this photo. Our sunsets are so varied, and this one with such a red sky was fairly unusual.
