Some of you may remember when we left Beaver Island, I had three tomato plants, two cherry and one yellow, full of green tomatoes. I didn't want to just leave all the tomatoes for the deer, so I harvested the crop and brought them carefully to Chicago. I followed advice from my 365 friends: let them sit in the sun, put them with ripe fruit, etc. Since the word for today is harvest, I thought it would be fun to play with my nifty 50 (and one with my macro), create a collage with the results a little over 2 weeks later. As you can see, a bunch of the almost-red ones are now as red as can be, some of the yellows have ripened nicely, and some of the others remain tenaciously green. A good lesson in patience!
@anazad511 Thanks Ana! I think in the end it's been hard to judge. They are all just taking their sweet time. I don't see any pattern, so now they're all together in one large container, sitting in the sun. When on of us is home, we move the container around to keep it in the sun as much as possible.
@anazad511 I'm trying, but may be doing worse things -- I sort of gently toss them so they change places. I'm hoping they are having fun, but they could be dreading my approach!
Now what are you going to do with them? We need a few more days of sun for ours to ripen.
