Not many bird photos in any of my 365 albums as I'm really rubbish at getting any in focus. I took several shots of these - whatever they are - in Millennium Park where corn is in bloom in the middle of the city. Birds are flitting around eating the kernels and posing quite nicely for Chicagoans, visitors, and photographers from all over.
You are such a city slicker!! lol.... yes, I feel the same way about birds....pretty, but unidentifiable....never quite understood the compulsion to go out in the wilderness with binoculars and bird books, but to each their own....nice in B&W, whatever that is! :-))
You got it! I don't have too many birds, either, for the same reasons. They have to be captive or ready to join the choir eternal before I can catch one. Nice shot. :)
Hmmm The mottled breast could be a female red winged black bird. Colour shot may give more clues. No matter, great close up and love that you've caught her in action. fav
Good one Taffy! I have a hard time with birds. By the time I focus, they're outta there! I see a hummingbird every morning in the yard and have never managed to capture a photo. Maybe sometime I'll get lucky.
@redy4et I tried photographing hummingbirds all summer and not one came out. They are hard!! I hope one pays off for you -- when they work, they really are beautiful images. Thanks for your kind comment on my shot.
Well, I don't know- I don't think it's a Red-wing. I apologize for not having the time to really double check, but Red-wings are field birds and somehow I don't see them in Chicago- but it's not impossible. I think it's a Starling. They are everywhere- sort of a pest too- not native to America but introduced on our soil from a boat. Anyway, if you google both names, you might be able to tell which one is right.
