The Chicago Blackhawks are the winner of the Stanley Cup after winning tonight's game #6, 2 - 0, the first time in 77 years that they've won the Cup at home. A great game (from Chicagoans' perspective). While not there in person, we could watch the traffic going and coming, and even saw (using binoculars) the police escort taking the Stanley Cup to the stadium a few minutes before the end of the game. We can hear horns and fireworks (despite the rainy night).
Main image: United Center, little images clockwise -- the last 2 minutes, the captain after the win, the line-up with the two teams, the Cup being brought in, the players with the Cup.
Each player gets to take the Cup wherever he wants over the course of the next several months. It travels with the same guardian, who wears white gloves, around the world as the players take it to their home towns.
Happy night in Chicago!
@karlow75 I'm hoping we may be here for the parade -- we're so rarely in town in the summer that it might be one of the pluses of having to be here for the move.
:-( my son was at two of the games. He lives across the channel from where the Lightning play. Great series, though! Our goalie played with a groin tear!
Wonderful collage, Taffy, and congratulations on the win of your team! The funny thing is that I have a whole bunch of photos that look just like the ones you took of the TV screen from this day! We got down to the beach around sunset here, and it was so overcast decided to go for a walk instead, still with my camera around my neck. Turned the corner, and this local bar was jumping with Chicago fans in their red jerseys yelling and screaming in celebration!! It was truly wild, and I can only imagine how much more it would be in Chicago!! So, of course I snapped some pictures, but got out of harm's way when the jumping got too erratic, especially with alcohol involved! Fearing for my camera, of course, not myself...
