Magpie Goose at Mutton Hole Wetlands

Day 17 - Normanton, Gulf Country, NWQ

The Mutton Hole Wetlands are just outside of Normanton and we paid them a visit late in the afternoon to see the comings and goings. This was one of the reasons we had decided to head to Normanton for the night.

Magpie Geese seemed to be the dominant species there and there were hundreds of them congregating around the area.

They are a very unusual looking goose. Great shot of this striking bird.

They're not the most attractive of our bird species, but it's amazing to see them in large numbers :)

Nice capture.I think that this was the bird that the rice farmers used to shoot because of the damage to the crops.
