Occasional and Very Welcome Visitor

On the infrequent occasions when the Scaly Breasted Lorikeets come into our back yard, they are usually chased off very smartly by the Rainbow Lorikeets. However, this fellow hung around long enough the other day for me to grab a couple of quick shots before it was sent on his way.
Oh poor little one, naughty rainbow lorikeets!. It seems most birds are only happy if they are squabbling, even if there is plenty food for all.

Gosh they used to be so common...and today we hardly ever see them. I can't remember what has been causing the issue..but when I went looking just now, all I could find was pet shops selling them...and people offering to exterminate them. How depressing.

@hrs You're right Helen. I was going to make a comment that they were disappearing but I thought that may be overstating their future but maybe not. When we were kids, they were very common. We always called them "Greenies"

How lovely to see him in your garden. We used to get a few scaly breasted lorikeets in our garden and they used to play nicely with the rainbows, but this year we haven't seen any scaly breasted's at all.
